Apple chip supplier TSMC said today through Reuters that it is making every effort to increase productivity and ease global chip shortages, but the tight supply may continue into next year.
TSMC did not mention the chips that Apple needs, but it is Apple's main supplier of chips, which indicates that continued chip shortages may continue to affect Apple. TSMC produces Apple series chips for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Foxconn, another Apple supplier, said in March that it expects global chip shortages to continue into the second quarter of 2022.
The continuing chip shortage was caused by supply chain issues during Covid-19 and weather-related events (such as the closure of chip factories due to storms and power outages in Texas).
