TSMC recently announced that it will launch an enhanced version of the 3nm process called 3nm Plus in 2023, and the first customer will be Apple.
If it is launched in 2023, it is not difficult to predict that the processor will be A17. Although TSMC did not explain the difference of 3nm Plus, it is estimated that there will be improvements in power consumption and transistor density.
In the earlier stage, Semiconductor Manufacturing Company mentioned that the 3nm process can increase the transistor density by up to 70% compared with the 5nm process, and the performance can be improved by up to 15%, and the power consumption will be reduced by 30%. The 3nm process is expected to be trial production in 2021 and mass production in the second half of 2022. And 2023 will enter the 3nm Plus process.
