Privacy concerns? iPhone 11 Pro still collects positioning information after turning off all positioning items
For users who are sensitive to their privacy, the positioning function of smart phones may not be so flattering, and although most phones have buttons that can turn off the positioning function, recently security researchers have found that even if all the iPhone 11 Pro All independent positioning items are closed, and the phone still seems to collect users' positioning information from time to time, and Apple said in its response that they did not think there was a problem.
KrebsOnSecurity researchers found that on the iPhone 11 Pro, when users turn off all independent items in the location service individually (including system services), users can still occasionally find that the location icon appears on the status bar, so they believe that in these independent items Apple has hidden some location services that cannot be turned off. The only way to turn off is to turn off the entire location service directly, which also makes them worry about privacy violations on the phone.
After they reported this concern to Apple, Apple engineers said they didn’t think there was any security concern. It’s normal to see the location service icon on the status bar without turning off the location service. After all, they didn’t Positioning icons design independent switching options.
It is just that this response from Apple does not explain whether there are other location services that cannot be turned off, so KrebsOnSecurity also believes that this is contrary to what Apple claims to "let users get the most out of location information."
