Microsoft bids $16 billion to acquire Nuance, Siri's voice recognition technology partner company

Sources quoted from Bloomberg pointed out that Microsoft is negotiating with Nuance, an AI and speech recognition technology company. Sources revealed that the bid amounted to US$16 billion, or US$56 per share, which was 23% higher than when Nuance closed on Friday, and was announced as soon as this week. If it succeeds, it will be the second largest acquisition after LinkedIn's $24 billion acquisition in 2016.

This acquisition may touch Apple, because the partner behind Apple's Siri technology is Nuance. If Microsoft successfully acquires Nuance, the impact on Siri is really unpredictable. However, it may make Apple devote more resources to speech recognition technology to prevent core technology from being restricted.
