Apple regains first place in global mobile phone shipments

The survey agency IDC released a report that global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2020 increased by 4.3% year-on-year to 386 million units, an improvement over the other quarters of the previous year. Affected by the epidemic, mobile phone shipments for the whole year of 2020 fell 5.9% year-on-year. With the improvement in shipments in the fourth quarter, it is expected that the recovery momentum will continue in 2021.

According to the report, Apple has benefited from the strong demand for the iPhone 12 series, and its shipments have increased by 22% year-on-year to 90.1 million units, regaining the top spot in global mobile phone shipments! At the end of the day, Samsung's shipments rose 6.2% year-on-year to 73.9 million units. And Xiaomi rose 32% year-on-year to 43.3 million units to become the third place. As for the banned Huawei, its shipments dropped 42.4% year-on-year to 32.3 million units, ranking fifth in the world.
